Ofsted & School Performance

Pens Meadow School is committed to providing the highest standards of education and care for our pupils.

We are proud of our history of positive Ofsted inspections, which reflect the dedication of our staff, the resilience of our pupils, and the fantastic support of our families.

Our Latest Inspection: May 2025

We are delighted to share the findings of our most recent Ofsted inspection, which took place in May 2025. This inspection highlights the continued strength of our school and our success in meeting the complex and individual needs of our pupils aged 3 to 19.

The inspection team recognised that Pens Meadow continues to be a Good school, providing a safe, happy, and purposeful environment where pupils flourish. Key highlights from our recent reports include:

  • Exceptional Care: The level of care for our pupils is exceptional. Staff have a deep understanding of each pupil's specific needs, ensuring they feel safe and supported.

  • Functional Communication: A core strength of our curriculum is helping pupils gain functional communication skills, which fosters independence and confidence.

  • Positive Behaviour: There is an "ever-present vibe of positivity" throughout the school. Pupils behave well and show a genuine desire to learn.

  • High Expectations: Our staff hold high yet achievable expectations for every pupil, ensuring that even the smallest steps forward are celebrated as significant achievements.

A New Era for Pens Meadow

Following our successful inspection in 2025, we are now fully settled into our new purpose-built school building (opened December 2025). This state-of-the-art facility includes specialised learning environments and a professional catering kitchen, allowing us to further enhance our curriculum and provide even better outcomes for our children and young people.
