New Build Progress

In January 2026, Pens Meadow School officially opened the doors to our brand-new, purpose-built facility on the former Pensnett High School site.

This multi-million-pound investment from Dudley Council has transformed our vision into a reality, providing a state-of-the-art environment where our 155 pupils, aged 3 to 19, are now thriving. Our extensive grounds are now a hub of activity. From the rustling leaves in our Forest School area to the energy on our Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), our pupils are enjoying the freedom and safety of high-quality outdoor learning and play spaces.

Plus, our school isn't just a site for learning; it’s a model for the future. We are proud to be operating out of a highly sustainable building that features:

  • Solar Energy: Our PV solar panels are actively generating clean electricity to power our school.

  • Low-Carbon Heating: We utilise air-source heat pumps to maintain a comfortable, energy-efficient climate year-round.

  • A Healthy Environment: The design prioritises natural light and advanced ventilation, creating a calm, airy atmosphere that supports the wellbeing of our entire school community.

Top-Class Facilities

Our new site was designed from the ground up to meet the specific needs of children and young people with complex needs, severe learning difficulties, and autism.

These facilities are now part of our students' daily lives:

  • Adaptable Classrooms

14 large, bespoke classrooms designed to be flexible and responsive to the specific needs of each group.

  • Hydrotherapy & Rebound Therapy

A modern, on-site hydrotherapy pool and a dedicated rebound therapy room featuring a sunken trampoline to support physical development and motor skills.

  • Specialist Therapy Suites

Dedicated rooms for both individual and group therapy sessions, including speech and language, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy.

  • Vocational Learning

A fully equipped food technology room and independent living spaces to prepare our older students for adulthood and employability.

  • Outdoor Learning

Extensive grounds including a forest school area, safe and secure play courtyards, and a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA).

Dudley’s First Specialist Council Nursery

We are delighted that our new site includes the borough’s first-ever purpose-built, council-funded specialist nursery.

With 15 dedicated places, our youngest learners are already benefiting from expert early-years assessment and support in an environment specifically designed for their first steps in education.

The move to Pensnett represents a "dream come true" for the Pens Meadow community. After years of planning and construction, we are finally under one roof in a building that truly reflects the potential and dignity of our pupils. We look forward to many years of growth, achievement, and joy in our new home.
