Mini Meadow Nursery

A Specialist Start for Every Child

Welcome to Mini Meadow Nursery, a brand-new, purpose-built specialist provision located within the state-of-the-art Pens Meadow School. Opening in January 2026, our nursery offers 15 dedicated places for children aged 3 to 4 with complex needs, severe learning difficulties, and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

As the first council-funded, purpose-built specialist nursery in the borough, Mini Meadow is designed to provide the very best foundations for our youngest learners to thrive in a safe, nurturing, and highly expert environment.

Mini Meadow Nursery

Learners for Life

At Mini Meadow, we believe that every child’s journey should begin with curiosity and joy. Following the school’s Early Development Pathway (EDP), our nursery curriculum focuses on:

  • Communication First: A 'total communication' environment, where every sign, gesture, and sound is valued.
  • Independence & Resilience: Encouraging children to explore the world around them at their own pace.
  • Personalised Learning: Tailoring every activity to a unique profile and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) of the child.

The Early Development Pathway

We use the Birth to Five Matters framework to guide our practice, ensuring a holistic approach to early years education. Our expert staff team works closely with Speech and Language Therapists (delivered by Soundswell) and Occupational Therapists to integrate clinical support directly into the nursery day.

We work on the three prime areas of development.

  1. Communication and language
  2. Physical development
  3. Personal, social, and emotional development

Working with Families

We understand that starting nursery is a significant milestone for any family, particularly when a child has additional needs. Our Family Outreach Team and the 'team around the child' approach ensure that parents are supported every step of the way. Through regular updates and learning journals, we work in close partnership with you to celebrate every small step of progress.

Admission

Mini Meadow Nursery provides specialist places for children with an EHCP (or those undergoing assessment) who require more support than a mainstream setting can provide. Admissions are managed in conjunction with the Dudley SEND Team.

If you feel Mini Meadow might be the right environment for your child, we encourage you to get in contact!
