Family Outreach

We know that being a parent or carer of a disabled child brings unique challenges that can affect the whole family. When families feel supported and informed, this has a positive impact on wellbeing, engagement and children’s success in school.

Pens Meadow School is proud to hold the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA), recognising our strong commitment to working in partnership with families - because happy parents and carers mean happy children.

To support this, Pens Meadow has its own Family Outreach Team, made up of a Family Outreach Coordinator and a Family Support Worker. This unique service offers direct support, signposting, advice and opportunities for family engagement. The team works closely with services across the borough and acts as a key point of contact for information and guidance.

The Family Outreach Team provides a wide range of support, including:

• Induction into Pens Meadow

• Team Around the Child approach

• Family learning and information events

• Support with housing, DLA, PIP and Blue Badge applications

• Transition and attendance support

• Behaviour and appointment support

• Charity applications

• Home visits and home-school liaison

• Parent and carer support groups

• Conflict resolution

• Social care support

• After-school club and summer play scheme

• Access to on-site services such as our hairdresser

The Family Outreach Team is available Monday-Friday during term time, with some flexibility for additional support by prior arrangement.
